Town of Gray

The town of Gray is located at the crossroads of state routes 26, 100, 115, 202, 4 and the Maine Turnpike exit 63. Gray is home to the Maine Wildlife Park, Libby Hill Forest Trails, and the Spring Meadows Golf Course and is conveniently located within a twenty minute drive of Maine's two largest cities, Portland and Lewiston. Gray has a population of almost 7,000 living withing its 42 square miles.

Gray encompasses all of Crystal Lake off Route 26 and the North Raymond Road, the northern portion of Little Sebago Lake, and a portion of Notched Pond. Its proximity to area lakes and outdoor activities plus the ease of commute for many who work in Portland or Lewiston make it a prime location to make a home and raise a family.

Gray has long been interconnected with its neighbor to the north, New Gloucester, both sharing similar demographics, culture and economy. They are two of the last rural towns in the area, with the Portland's urban area to the south and Lewiston/Auburn to the north. Both towns share the same school district.

Being located where they are, these towns have experienced ever-increasing suburban development since the early 1990s. Sub-divisions and commercial developments have been built at an ever-increasing frequency, leading some to warn against the possibility of Gray being swallowed up into the surrounding urban and sub-urban areas in the future. These developments have drawn much protest from residents, many of whom live on the same property as their ancestors many generations ago.
